Periodontal (gum) disease is one of the most common diseases encountered in
veterinary medicine. Plaque and tartar accumulate on your pet's teeth providing
a foothold for bacteria to begin infecting gums and roots of teeth, which
results in tooth loss and pain. The infection around teeth and gums can allow
bacteria to enter the bloodstream and infect major organs such as the kidney and
heart, often resulting in failure. Dental Care is therefore especially important
in older pets.
